The domestic business class battle in Australia has been heating up rapidly over the last two years, with Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti staking a claim to the nation’s business travel spend.

Fortunately for the consumer, this means that both Virgin and Qantas have been upping their domestic class game in a big way, ploughing huge money into upgrading the entire business travel experience, from food and beverage service, to lounges, and now Virgin are following Qantas (who unveiled their new product last year) down the path of upgrading their wide-bodied domestic business class seats on East-West coast routes.

With a rollout that will see all domestic A330’s fitted out with the new seats by the end of October, Virgin Australia is promising an unprecedented domestic product with a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone layout, an ‘eat whenever’ Luke Mangan designed menu, and they’ve announced an exclusive partnership to serve Nespresso coffee, so that Borghetti says, passengers can “get a decent coffee for a change.”

Needless to say, the new seats look pretty damn impressive. Perth anyone?
