5 Skin Care Tips For The Working Man

— Updated on 27 December 2022

When it comes to skin care, routine is everything; but for the working man sometimes it’s hard enough just finding the time to shave – or it might be that having to shave everyday is the very thing which is causing you issues.

Now we all know eating right, keeping out of the sun and steering clear of the ol’ lungers can all go a long way in ensuring we have healthier looking skin; but knowing exactly what you should be doing in your morning and nightly routines is perhaps not so common knowledge. To help you out, we spoke with Face of Man Skin Therapist, Cathriona Flanagan, to provide you with five minimal fuss skin care tips for the working man.

Wash your face twice a day.

Foaming Cleanser is a great choice as this can also be used as a replacement for shaving cream – with the added benefits of having salicylic acid to help prepare hair for a shave, clove oil to prevent shaving rash and niacinamide to soothe the skin.

Prep your skin for a shave by showering before-hand.

The humidity and steam from the shower will soften your hair and follicles making it easier for the razor to glide over the skin, giving you a smoother, closer shave.

When shaving, follow the direction of hair growth.

Shaving against the direction of your hair growth not only cuts into the skin causing a rash and irritation, but it also damages the hair follicle and can lead to in-growing hair.

Exfoliate regularly

Use a liquid exfoliant such as the Ultra Even Skintone Serum. This serum is super effective, working inside pores to reduce blackheads. Even Skintone Serum is rubbed in and left on the skin; not having to wash this serum off means you will save valuable time during your morning and night-time routines.

Combine your SPF & Moisturiser

When using a day moisturiser always opt for a combined SPF and moisturiser all in one. This won’t be as congesting as applying a separate SPF on top of your moisturiser, nor will it leave you with that greasy feeling on the surface.

For any Sydney-siders looking to kickstart their routine, Face of Man is offering a special introductory treatment for first time customers: For $99, the offer includes a professional skin analysis, a one-hour Ultraceuticals facial customised to your unique skin concerns, a hydrating eye treatment, an eyebrow tidy and a relaxing neck and shoulder massage – all valued at $238.
