The wait is over. Titan of retail and home delivery, Amazon, has officially launched as of 2pm AEST here in Australia. These first few hours are reportedly a soft launch, which will transition into full assault by tomorrow. And just in time for the Black Friday sales.

From this very moment forward, you can buy anything from electronics to food at extremely reasonable prices, low shipping costs, and expect it to arrive at your doorstep very promptly.

So what does this US mega-import mean for you? For one, you will now be able to purchase products up to 30% cheaper than in-stores. Or at least that’s what Kim Do, Senior Industry Analyst for IBISWorld, has predicted.

“Amazon’s imminent arrival into the Australian market is set to shake up the retail sector,” says Do. “The company intends to challenge domestic retail prices…”

Additionally, there are plans set to introduce Amazon Prime to this great land of ours. For the uninitiated, Amazon Prime is a subscription based service, offering a wide array of benefits. One of which, and probably the most notable, is the free fast-tracked shipping. This delivers the package into your hands anywhere between two-hours to two days. As of yet, however, it is uncertain when this will be integrated, or exactly how fast standard shipping speeds will be.

To put a cherry on top, it has also been confirmed that Amazon Australia will be an active participant of the notoriously insane Black Friday sales. Shoppers can expect cut-throat rates, and major savings on November 24th. Mark the date.

All that’s left to do is getting your wallets at the ready and your fingers nimble for the buy.
