Autonomous vehicles have been the rising trend on the roads lately. From self-parking cars, to self-driving cars, soon there may be no need for any human element. Honda has only contributed to this eventuality, with their

Riding Assist

motorcycle with a self-balancing to ensure it never falls. So you have less of an excuse for tipping over the next time cruise down the highway. Additionally, the motorcycle has also demonstrated the ability to independently follow its rider.

The Riding Assist is a concept model that has been in development for some time now, and was debuted globally at CES 2017, the most prominent consumer electronics and technology trade show the world over. The model is said to “… [leverage their] robotics technology to… greatly [reduce] the possibility of falling over while the motorcycle is at rest…”. Opting away from the mainstream, it incorporates originally developed technology from the company’s UNI-CUB personal mobility device, as opposed to relying on gyroscopes which adds a considerable amount of weight to the body of the motorcycle and “… alters the riding experience…”.

As well as being an all-round nifty bit of innovation, the personal vehicle is also apparently a bid to “… make touring and everyday use of motorcycle more fun…” as part of Honda’s “Co-operative Mobility Ecosystem”. The Honda Riding Assist motorcycle has already won three top awards this year so far, including “The Best of CES 2017”, “Best Innovation” and “Best Automotive Technology”, judged by the event’s official partner and popular mechanics publication, Engadget.
