WeWork Documentary Trailer Promises A Full Autopsy Of The Disaster

Hulu has dropped a trailer for its forthcoming WeWork documentary – officially titled WeWork: Or The Making & Breaking Of A $47 Billion Unicorn – which looks to be an unflinching autopsy of how “cult leader”/“megalomaniac”/Founder & CEO Adam Neumann torpedoed the most overvalued company of this era straight into the ground.

For context – [spoiler warning for anyone who managed to avoid this story entirely] – after somehow managing to burn US$18 billion in 2018 alone, before directly overseeing the SoftBank-backed company’s failed IPO in 2019, Neumann controversially fled the metaphorical plane crash with a wildly undeserved US$1.7 billion golden parachute.

Neumann’s employees, on the other hand, weren’t so fortunate. Many had abandoned former jobs, uprooted their entire lives, and relocated on an empty promise. In exchange for buying into the illusion, these same employees were offered little more than terminations, void contracts, and close to zero severance (if any at all).

In just six weeks from the height of its valuation – US$47 billion or AU$60 billion – WeWork found itself inches from bankruptcy.

“Adam told me I was going to be a millionaire,” an ex-employee reveals in the footage provided.

“Everything about WeWork was propaganda… it was like flushing cash down a toilet,” notes another interviewee.

“You tell a thirty-something male he’s Jesus Christ, he’s inclined to believe you,” explains one pundit – which is remarkably on the money when you consider Adam Neumann had plans to become president of the world.

“For God’s sake… they’re renting fucking desks.”
