The hype for Joaquin Phoenix's interpretation of The Joker in the upcoming film of the same name continues to build with the release of six cryptic clips from the much-anticipated super-villain flick.
Ahead of the Todd Phillips-directed flick hitting cinemas in October, the short teasers showcase a mixture of footage from the first trailer alongside a further look into the final product of the R-rated film.
Five of the six clips focus on the Joker as we see him walking in the rain, running through the streets, climbing inside his fridge, flashing a sinister smile and dancing euphorically. The final clip highlights Robert De Niro as talkshow host Murray Franklin.
The scenes also giveaway the release date of the second official trailer, with Reddit user leos-rdt discovering a message in the flashing patterns in each six-second clip. When put together, the scribbled message reads “trAILeR 828,” pointing to the next trailer being revealed tomorrow, on August 28.
Check out each of the six clips below.
Along with Phoenix and De Niro, Joker stars Marc Moran, Zazie Beetz, Shea Whigham and Frances Conroy. The film is set for release October 4, but until then check out the creepy first trailer below.
