Are we really that old already!? Has some studio executive come to the conclusion that a sufficient amount of time has passed since the OG big screen Tomb Raider adaptations to warrant another remake?
As silly as those stylised and somewhat boring jaunts were back in 2001 and 2003 respectively, one can’t help but love them for their real life incarnations of one of the gaming world’s most coveted characters. And what better actress to win our hearts and bring Lara Croft to life than the lovely Angelina Jolie.
Right, I’ll let the past be past and focus your attention on this film, 17 years later. Set to be released in March, this one follows the escapades of Lara Croft, daughter of a missing adventurer, who ends up on the same remote and foreboding island where her Dad disappeared in the quest to find answers. Swedish actress Alicia Vikander wields the dual holsters in this outing alongside a relatively unknown cast.
The trailer – while giving the impression this film will be an easy watch – seems to have a very similar tone to other adventure action films of late such as “Kong: Skull Island” and the dreaded “Jumanji” remake. You can probably assume our thoughts on those, so we’ll just let the clip above speak for itself.
