Don’t let them tell you otherwise. Film scores being bought to life by an entire orchestra is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Anyone who has witnessed Hans Zimmer live can attest to the fact there’s nothing quite like watching and listening as a filmic soundtrack is built from the ground up. So you can imagine our excitement for the upcoming George Lazenby & The Music Of James Bond Australian Tour.

This marks the first occasion in six decades that an official James Bond actor has personally appeared in concert alongside music from the films. And while it would’ve been a far more enticing prospect with the involvement of a Daniel Craig or a Pierce Brosnan, old man Lazenby – AKA the unlikeliest of all Bonds – ain’t no slouch.

The 82-year-old Australian actor famously took on the mantle of 007 once in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service before (foolishly) abandoning the franchise in favour of such cinematic milestones as Univeral Soldier, Who Saw Her Die?, The Man From Hong Kong, and The Kentucky Fried Movie. Still, his contribution to the ongoing spy mythology cannot be faulted.

Touring from Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth to Melbourne, George Lazenby will work in tandem with resident orchestras from each city, as well as New York-based Australian composer Nicholas Buc; the latter of which will obviously be tasked with recreating classic James Bond scores. Together, they’ll bring the franchise’s incredibly rich and deep history to life in four unforgettable evenings.

Joining George Lazenby and Nicholas Buc will be vocalists Bonnie Anderson and Luke Kennedy, who are set to offer renditions of John Barry’s score from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service as well as Louis Armstrong’s title song ‘We Have All The Time In The World’ — which was most recently repurposed in last year’s No Time To Die. Other iconic James Bond songs will also form part of the setlist, in addition to stories orated by Lazenby himself.
