Sample The Best Of Bordeaux With Langton’s En Primeur Events

For the very first time in 2019, Langton’s, Australia’s leading Bordeaux specialist will debut a selection of their Langton’s En Primeur wines at a series of exclusive tastings in Sydney and Melbourne this month.

The Langton’s En Primeur program gives customers the opportunity to purchase the world’s most sought after wines from names like Pétrus, Latour, Figeac and Lynch Bages. Also known as ‘wine futures’, En Primeur is when the Bordelais sell their wines while still in the barrel at a discounted price, and this year, Australian customers will be given the opportunity to sample them without leaving the country.

And as fate would have it, 2018 has been described as, ‘not just an exceptional vintage, but something beyond the norm. An immortal year,’ by Andrew Caillard master of wine, who has recently returned from the region tasting 350 to 400 wines. What does this mean for buyers? Well for the first time, you needn’t rely on the likes of Caillard to tell you what is excellent, or what you should be buying – you can quaff, swirl, spit or swallow and ultimately, decide for yourself.

Whether you’re a Bourdeaux stalwart or a complete novice, Caillard assures us that when it comes to purchasing the 2018 En Primeur wines, it’s going to be very hard to make a bad decision, with stacks of lesser-known estates having created promising young wines which will evolve further before being delivered to you in 2021. For those buying to cellar and drink, these lower-profile names are where the true value lies. For those seeking investment bottles from the big names, the En Primeur program is like legal insider trading, with accurate information accessible for all and where the value of the stock is only going one way, up.

For those keen to secure the very best, at the very best price, Langton’s will be running events in Sydney on May 28 and Melbourne on May 30, where you can choose to participate in a standalone tasting, or pair the tasting with a three-course dinner complemented by a selection of world-class back vintage Bordeaux.
