Walk down the aisle of any aeroplane these days and you'll generally see about half of the passengers rocking a pair of Bose noise-cancelling headphones. First launched in 2009, Bose's QuietComfort range of headphones have pretty much been the benchmark in noise-cancelling headphones targeted at the frequent traveller and casual listener alike.

Now, Bose has raised the bar yet again with their new (interestingly named) 'Headphones 700'. Launched as a completely new product line above the QuietComfort series, the Headphones 700 sit atop the pile of Bose's consumer headphones and are priced accordingly with an RRP of $599.95.

Check out the video below for our first impressions.

After trialling the Headphones 700 on a two week trip to Europe after the above video was filmed, here's my take: the voice calls are unbelievably crisp for both the caller and receiver, while audio quality and noise-cancelling have only marginally improved on the QC35 II's. If you don't own a pair of noise-cancelling headphones - these should definitely be on your radar. If you do, then, for now, they're probably not worth the upgrade.
