Around this time last year, we were marvelling at the previous Jacob & Co Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. Comprised of 578 hand-assembled parts and housing a functional reproduction of its namesake’s W16-cylinder engine – 16 moving pistons, solid-steel crankshaft, and all activated by the press of a button – you’d think that alone would suffice. Well… apparently not.

In present day, Jacob & Co has chosen to continue its multi-year partnership with Bugatti by releasing the next evolution of its Chiron-inspired timepiece. Similar to the first, there’s a tiny W16-cylinder engine to be enjoyed. The only profound difference, as far as we’re concerned, is how they’ve upped the “bling” factor.

Sporting an 18K white gold tonneau case, the 2021 Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon also happens to feature 190 baguette white diamonds,109 baguette black sapphires, as well as 42 baguette orange sapphires all invisibly set. According to Jacob & Co themselves, the gem setters have utilised new proprietary techniques with rather advanced tech, ensuring the precious gems are properly affixed to a standard like nothing before.

Once again, you’ll find a Jacob & Co JCAM37 manual winding movement under the hood, visible through the sapphire crystal window. There’s a 60-hour power reserve which – in keeping with the overall theme – can be tracked thanks to a cute petrol gauge at the 9 o’clock position, as well as two “turbochargers.”

While the original Jacob & Co Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon retailed for US$280,000 (AU$365,500), the 2021 model’s price tag is currently only available upon request.
