Seiko Resurrect Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘Predator’ Prospex Solar Diver

— Updated on 15 June 2021

Arnold Schwarzenegger might not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of style icons, but during the 1980s the bodybuilder turned action star accidentally became the face of Seiko’s Prospex Solar Diver H558-5009.

The bulky no-nonsense timepiece was worn by Schwarzenegger in both Predator and Commando and was the first dive watch to feature a digital alarm chronograph with an analogue display. It subsequently became one of Seiko’s biggest sellers and quickly earned the nickname “the Arnie” amongst fans.

Now, almost four decades after its initial release, Seiko is bringing “the Arnie” back with three new models.

The SNJ025 comes in traditional stainless steel with a black bezel and is nearly identical to the one Arnie wore in decades past, while the NJ027 comes with a Pepsi bezel and the SNJ028 a diamond-like carbon coating.

The new iterations use Seiko’s solar technology with a full charge capable of lasting six months. They include LumiBrite hands and markers along with analogue and digital displays inside a thick 47.8mm, rose gold-accented matte black case. All there watches are water-resistant to a depth of 660ft (200 meters) and ISO certified for diving.

Priced at $799, “the Arnie” is sure to sell out quick, so head to seikowatches.com.au now and snap up this new flip on a classic timepiece.
