Late Lee Alexander McQueen was a renowned fashion designer, best known for his label, Alexander McQueen and for being the chief designer at Givenchy. McQueen won four British Designer of the Year awards and the CFDA's International Designer of the Year award and was hailed for bringing a sense of drama and rebellion to both fashion and the catwalk. Sadly, after a long and heralded career, McQueen committed suicide in 2010 at age 40.

Now, McQueen's famed Mayfair, London penthouse has been put on the market for a cool £8,500,000 (AU$14m). He purchased the property in 2009, just one year before his death, however a recent refurbishment has transformed the abode into a sort of 'McQueen Shrine' topped off with his famous skull motif and framed photo shoot pictures adorning the walls. The property was originally built in 1897 for the grandson of Queen Victoria and was later purchased by author PG Wodehouse, before being converted into apartments.

The 1,790 square duplex penthouse boasts two VIP bedroom suites, a terrace with views of Mayfair, bespoke chandeliers, walk in dressing rooms, bathrooms full of rare Calcatta marble and more.

McQueen once famously said, "Fashion should be a form of escapism, and not a form of imprisonment," and it looks as though the same goes for this stunning residence.
