Jetty Road Brewery has fast become one of Mornington Peninsula’s best spots to stop in for a craft beer, with the growing business set to expand to new premises in the CBD come 2020.
After opening in late 2018 at Dromana Industrial Estate, the team behind the tasty froth have lodged an application to transform a desolate area in South Melbourne’s Market Street into a multi-story brewpub containing a microbrewery, private tasting room, and mezzanine dining room. The entire premises will have a capacity of around 250 people and include a 500-litre brewhouse with 20 taps.
As co-founder Grant Rodgers told Brews News, the key factor in opening Jetty Road’s second brewpub was the location.
“Basically, we wanted something closer to the water, where people could work their way up towards the city,” he said.
Many details about the project are shrouded in secrecy, but Rodgers did reveal the new venue will host some experimental and collaborative brews as well as a barrel-aging program. Despite the scale of the new urban facility, Rodgers hopes to bring the same ethos of their original brewery to this new location.
“It will hopefully have the same vibe,” he said. “Being a small business, we did it on a budget down here in Dromana and it went pretty well but we’ve got a bigger budget for the South Melbourne site. We’re looking at offering special beer cocktails, mixologists, and others to bring that Jetty Road Brewery experience to life.”
Until then you can visit Jetty Road Brewery’s Mornington Peninsula location at 12–14 Brasser Avenue, Dromana, or check out their range of beers at jettyroad.com.au.
