Hisense’s Series 8 TV Nails Late Night Netflix Binges

On a cold Friday night in Sydney, we ventured out to The Old Clare in a departure from the usual. Presenting their latest and greatest Series 8 and 9 UHD TVs, the guys from Hisense created an experience that went beyond the usual. After a few excellent cocktails and magic tricks from none other than Matt Tarrant, we were shown to one of the hotel’s super luxe suites to spend a night with the Series 8 and “see the incredible” in style.

Walking into the room, the bezeless size of the 65″ screen definitely stood out and dominated the entry hallway. Although imposing, the sleek styling helped to keep the Series 8’s bulk manageable in the studio apartment sized space. The minimalist colourway and support stand present the TV as a piece of furniture rather than a bulky electronic, a neutral aesthetic that can easily match to multiple interiors. Laying down on the super comfortable bed with wine and chocolate in hand, we were ready to settle in for a quality evening from the comfort of the king.

With the included Netflix feature providing 4K streaming and easy access via the included remote button, the Series 8 became the perfect way to binge the night way. Featuring HDR Plus, the screen cut through the darkness of the room utilising brightness and it’s wide lifelike colour gamut. This created a nice little cinema vibe, which always presents that nostalgic tang of childhood.

Gliding through Netflix’s huge library via the VIDAA U smart system, the perfect movie set up was a breeze – much easier than previous dealings with alternative such as the Chromecast. It was a simple press of the button and we were good to go, without having to leave the comfort of the glorious bed.

Distance from bed to TV wasn’t an issue either. The large screen was an obvious lifesaver in all of this but the Series 8’sSOUND BY DBX-TV : PRO AUDIO was also a pleasant surprise. A handy feature included was ‘Total Volume’, which made sure there wasn’t massive variations in loudness. This worked really well for a particularly gnarly episode of ‘Narcos’, keeping the action sequences in check. ‘Total Surround’ balanced this out by ensuring we were fully enveloped in the audio, even when one of ear was buried in a pillow.

All in all, Netflix managed to last until the late night and made the hotel stay amazingly more pleasant. The ease of access for entertainment and general specs frame Hisense’s Series 8 as the perfect home cinema set-up, a great addition for anyone wanting the ultimate way to kick back after a hard day.

The 65” Series 8 is RRP $4,999. Check it out at hisense.com.au
