Sony’s WF-1000XM3 Noise Cancelling Earbuds Could Become AirPods’ Biggest Challenger

Sony has made a big call with their latest range of earbuds, declaring them “the next level of silence.” Dubbed the WF-1000XM3, these sleek looking wireless earbuds are aimed at travellers who routinely experience long haul journeys and are keen to keep outside noise to a minimum.

The headphones come with a HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1e chip and Dual Noise Sensor Technology, which when combined with a feedback microphone on the surface of the buds, help cancel out ambient background noise. Sony is claiming the technology is the “most advanced ever in truly wireless headphones.”

Another great technological improvement is the addition of the Digital Sound Enhancement Engine HX function, with the earbuds able to upscale compressed music files for clearer quality playback. The Quick Attention attribute allows you to lower the volume at the touch of a button while you can also customise touch controls and use voice assist to play, pause and skip songs.

The earbuds boast a 24-hour battery life when in noise cancelling mode and an incredible 36 hours battery life when in their normal state. There’s also a quick charge function, with 10 minutes of charging able to supply up to 90 minutes of listening time, for those who need a quick boost before running out the door.

The headphones are engineered for a snug fit and include a newly developed Bluetooth chip to maximise an interruption-free listening experience.

The Sony WF-1000XM3’s are currently only available at in black or platinum silver and priced at AU$399.95.
