With the 2017 Formula One season looming, this year's teams have the added pressure of the most regulation changes we have seen since the introduction of the Hybrid Power trains. Cars are going to be wider, lower and a hell of a lot faster. Four seconds a lap faster to be exact. This is due to the fact that the tires are now up to 8cm wider and the cars themselves are 20cm wider. Unfortunately no engine regulation changes have been mandated so for now at least they will still sound like turbo charged vacuum cleaners.
Over the last month all the teams have gone about revealing their contenders for the 2017 season. With that, the grid is set to look a little different this year, with Valtteri Bottas slipping into Nico Rosberg's old seat in the W08 Mercedes, and Jensen Button taking a year on the sidelines with Stoffel Vandoorne taking his place.
Come the first race of the season in Melbourne, we'll will see if the rest of the field can finally get closer, or dare I say it, past the Mercedes. At four seconds a lap faster than last year in the Barcelona Testing, it should shape up to be a fast paced season with more competition, fiercer battles and hopefully a close fight to the title.
