Bloke Wins $1.19 Million USD From $85k On Tiger Woods’ Masters Victory

On Sunday (US time), Tiger Woods marked his return to glory with his fifth green jacket and his first major win since 2008, bringing his major tournament wins to a total of 15.

The legendary golfer wasn’t the only happy chappy following the victory, however, with a man by the name of James Adducci from Wisconsin cashing in a healthy $1.19 million USD from an $85,000 bet he’d placed the Tuesday before.

Adducci was initially turned away from two casinos before securing the bet at 14-1 odds with William Hill. He later told Darren Rovell of The Action Network that he’d never bet on sport before in his life. “If I saw Tiger, I would tell him that I understood the pressure he must be under, because I, for a moment in time, felt it too.”

In a chat with Golf Digest’s Stephen Hennessey, Adducci, who is a self-employed day trader, said he put together all the money he could afford to lose and decided to put it on Woods, according to Business Insider.

“I just thought it was pre-destined for him to win…it wasn’t about the stats for me,” Adducci told Hennessey. “The fact that this was going to be his first major in front of his kids, I was convinced he would win.”

The bookies weren’t as hard to convince as his wife, however, who said to him “I can’t stop you from doing this, because if he wins, I’ll never forgive myself.”

James Adducci cashed in his winnings at the SLS Casino in Las Vegas on Monday. He took home $US1.19 million.
