HBO has provided a brand new trailer for the upcoming all-access Tiger Woods documentary – Tiger. Pulling back the curtains on a figure widely considered to be the greatest golfer in modern history, this two-part affair has been hotly anticipated since its very announcement.

Produced by Alex Gibney (BillionsDirty MoneyThe Armstrong Lie), this upcoming docuseries is based on the tell-all biography Tiger Woods written by journalists Armen Keteyian and Jeff Benedict – achieved by compiling interviews from 250 people close to the golfing great. Interestingly enough, the man himself was excluded from the process, meaning audiences may be in for something a little rawer and less sanitised than other sports documentary series.

According to HBO, we can expect to hear from the likes of Woods’ former caddy and close friend Steve Williams, biographer Pete McDaniel, golfing legend Sir Nick Faldo, “first true love” Dina Parr, and even the woman involved with the prolific sex scandal, Rachel Uchitel.

“Few global icons are more visible and less understood than Tiger Woods,” says Peter Nelson, HBO Sports Executive Vice President.

“His prodigy came with painstaking sacrifice – his perfected athleticism immobilized him in agony before the age of 40; his self-made fame enabled a self-destructive world of secrecy; his redemptive re-emergence posed as many questions as it answered.”

“Not only about one of the greatest sportsmen ever to live, but also the greater American society that engulfed him.”

HBO’s Tiger is scheduled to premiere on January 10th of 2021 – watch the trailer above.
