The Most Dangerous Countries To Travel Alone In 2019

The world is a weird and wonderful place, but we’re quick to learn that life isn’t a fair playing field.

Unfortunately, this logic couldn’t ring more true for travel destinations around the world where perhaps this inequality is manifested more obviously than ever.

The below map shows the safest and riskiest destinations for solo travel around the world for 2019, as reported by and their annual findings in conjunction with advice from the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Researchers from Gallup asked residents of 142 countries questions about how safe they feel walking alone at night, their confidence with local police, if they’d been assaulted or mugged as well as a host of other questions.

Rather than tally the negative experiences, they compiled positive responses to four questions into a Law and Order Index score for each country. The higher the score, the higher the proportion of the population that reports feeling safe.

In conjunction with the Global Peace Index, the report concludes on the least safest countries to travel alone in 2019. Check out the list below, and read the full report here.
