What Are The PS5 Pro’s New Features?
While Sony hasn’t released a full list of specs yet, the console’s announcement focused on the performance enhancements we can expect within the PS5 Pro.
Under its hood is an upgraded GPU, which has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5, 28% faster memory and offers 45% faster rendering.
Along with this promise of a smoother gameplay experience, the Pro has advanced ray tracing that’ll help create more “dynamic reflection and refraction of light” in-game. Sony also announced that the Pro will use AI-upscaling to sharpen image clarity and increase detail through a feature it’s calling “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.”
These upgraded features are only available with select games, which will be marked with a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label. On top of these enhancements, over 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games will receive performance upgrades with the PS5 Pro Game Boost.
The Pro comes with a larger internal storage of 2TB, doubling the Slim’s 1TB. The console also supports Wi-Fi 7, VRR and 8K gaming. As far as sizing goes, the Pro is the same height as the original PS5 and the width of the PS5 Slim.
Despite all of these hardware upgrades, the PS5 Pro won’t include a disc drive, making it a digital-only console. However, if you’re someone who prefers physical media, the console is compatible with the disc drive add-on that’s available for the PS5 Slim.
Which Games Are PS5 Pro Enhanced?
Sony has confirmed that a handful of games will receive these PS5 Pro enhancements as a free software update, although we can expect more to be announced down the line.

How Much Will The PlayStation 5 Pro Cost In Australia?
The PS5 Pro is set to retail for $1,199.95 in Australia and includes a DualSense controller along with a pre-installed copy of Astro’s Playroom.
However, depending on how you prefer to purchase games or plan to store your console, there are a few extra costs here. As mentioned before, the PS5 Pro doesn’t come with a disc drive. If you’re a lover of physical media you’ll need to buy the $159.95 attachment separately. The console doesn’t come with a stand either, so that’s another $49.95 you’ll need to spend if you want to display it vertically.
With those add-ons factored in, you’re looking at a $1,409.85 all up for the newest PlayStation console.
