  • Apple Studio’s F1 starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris has an innovative new trailer that makes use of your iPhone’s haptic feedback function.
  • The 4D experience mirrors the all-new heights of authenticity the $300 million production managed to achieve during principal photography.
  • F1 movie release date (Australia): June 25th, 2025.

With the exception of perhaps the phasing out of narrations and those quick-cut teasers at the beginning that tell you the trailer is about to begin (helpful BTW), film previews have remained largely unchanged. But Apple may have just reinvented the form.

In anticipation of Joseph Kosinski’s F1 starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, the tech giant has dropped an innovative new trailer that makes full use of your iPhone’s engineering. Simply turn your device into a landscape position, with a hand on each side of the caseback, and let the immersive magic happen.

The only real drawback? You’ll need to hit the link at the bottom of this article for a viewing. That is, after all, the only way to activate the haptic feedback on this 4D experience.

Similar to Sylvester Stallone’s DrivenF1 follows a grid veteran named Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) who was forced to retire after a horrible crash in the 90s. That is until his dear friend and APXGP team owner Ruben (Javier Bardem) calls him up to mentor rookie prodigy Joshua “Noah” Pearce (Damson Idris).

F1 Movie Trailer (Main)

“I play a guy who raced in the 1990s who has a horrible crash and disappears to race in other disciplines,” Brad Pitt explained to Sky Sports.

“His friend (played by Javier Bardem), the team owner, contacts him. They’re last in the grid, they haven’t scored a point. But they have a young phenom, played by Damson Idris, and they bring me in as kind of a Hail Mary.”

“You’ve never seen speed, you’ve never seen the G-forces like this. The footage is really, really exciting.”

The rest of the cast has been filled out by Kerry Condon as Kate, Tobias Menzies as Banning, Sarah Niles as Joshua’s mother Bernadette, Kim Bodnia, Samson Kayo as Cashman, and plenty more.

Seven-time world champion and Mercedes Ferrari driver Sir Lewis Hamilton – who produced via Dawn Apollo Films – four-time world champion Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz Jr, the since ousted Sergio Perez, as well as the rest of the drivers, appear as themselves. The legendary Jerry Bruckheimer has also produced.
