  • Among the winners at the BAFTA Film Awards 2026, One Battle After Another dominated with eight wins, including Best Film and Director.
  • Robert Aramayo pulls off a surprise Leading Actor victory and wins EE Rising Star.
  • Marty Supreme goes home empty-handed despite 11 nominations.

The 2026 awards season is in full swing, with the who’s who of Hollywood heavyweights converging for the 79th BAFTA Film Awards in London to celebrate the winners from another year of incredible cinematic releases.

Each category, from Leading Actor and Actress to Best Film and Director, is undeniably stacked with a litany of award-winning talent from the UK and across the globe.

Before the first name was called, One Battle After Another was the early pick of the bunch with 14 nominations, with Sinners following close behind with 13, and A24’s Marty Supreme and the Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley-led Hamnet both sitting on 11.

One Battle After Another continued its momentum from January’s Golden Globes, sweeping six awards, including Best Director, Best Film, Supporting Actor, and Adapted Screenplay, although its leading man Leonardo DiCaprio missed out on the gong for Leading Actor to British actor (and Rising Star recipient) Robert Aramayo, who won his first BAFTA for his performance in I Swear.

And for all the extra-curricular media activity that Timothรฉe Chalamet was doing in promotion of A24’s highest-grossing release, Marty Supreme โ€“ a film I managed to see for the first time last week, knowing I’d inevitably have to write this article โ€“ ended the night with the rather unwanted record of the most BAFTA nominations (11) without a win.

It’s surprising, given how much Chalamet we were all getting on our screens over the last few months. And whilst I felt like his performance in the titular role was among the very best within his disparate range of titles, it wasn’t enough to leave London with more than the nom.
