Director James Mangold (Ford v Ferrari, Logan) might have Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny set to release in only a couple of months, but that hasnโt stopped him from looking ahead to whatโs next. Mangold recently revealed that heโs begun working on a new Star Wars film about the very first jedi, as well as another film centered on the DC comics character Swamp Thing.
At this yearโs Star Wars Celebration held in London, LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed that Mangoldโs entry in the Star Wars cannon would explore โthe first Jedi to wield the forceโ.

โIt takes place 25,000 years before Episode IV, and itโs about the discovery of the Force,โ says Mangold.
โI told Kathy [Kennedy, head of Lucasfilm] I wanted to make a kind of Bible movie, a kind of Ten Commandments of Star Wars โ kind of a Cecil B DeMille film about the arrival of the Force, and thatโs what Iโve been pecking away at between press events. Thatโs the idea.โ
โItโs a movie that both connects to the worlds we know, but is also far enough away from it that I think thereโs a lot of opportunities to tell a story freely, alsoโฆand not be so incredibly tied in by the knots and different story strands that are already in place.โ
We also found out that we were getting two other Star Wars films, on top of James Mangoldโs untitled project. One of these films is set to come from The Mandalorian co-creator Dave Filoni and centers on an โescalating war between the Imperial remnant and the New Republicโ set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
The other Star Wars film will be helmed by Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and will be set 15 years after The Rise Of Skywalker. This will see the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey amidst what has been described as a โNew Jedi Orderโ. However, any further details are hard to come by for the project. Rest assured, weโll keep you posted once we know more about the various new Star Wars movies.
