- Sight of relief can be heard all around the world as Amazon MGM Studios confirms that Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, SAS Rogue Heroes, Locke) will pen the next James Bond film.
- Although Knight is predominantly known for his television work, the creative has intermittently dabbled in the big screen to Academy Award-nominated success.
- Bond 26 pairs the veteran writer with director Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario, Dune).
Collective concerns surrounding Amazon MGM Studios’ stewardship of the James Bond franchise have once again been quelled with the announcement of the next film’s screenwriter: Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
The British talent, who has been steadily keeping himself occupied since the hit BBC drama’s conclusion, is set to take on this hotly anticipated project once he wraps on Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie and yet another historical affair, House of Guinness (also destined for the streamer).

While Knight is predominantly known for his television efforts – particularly SAS Rogue Heroes, A Thousand Blows, This Town, Tom Hardy’s Taboo, as well as being the co-creator of international game show format Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? – he’s no stranger to feature-length projects.
The most notable of which have ranged from Closed Circuit, Dirty Pretty Things, and Eastern Promises; to the phenomenally claustrophobic Locke (also starring Tom Hardy), guilty pleasure fodder Burnt with Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller, as well as Kristen Stewart’s Oscar-nominated Spencer.
Up until recently, he was also on track to pen films for the Star Wars universe. In other words, the in-demand scribe was always destined to collaborate with a major blockbuster franchise.
One can only imagine what delightfully taut thrills Steven Knight will deliver with a director of Denis Villeneuve’s (Prisoners, Sicario, Dune) calibre at the helm.
