Two-time UFC Featherweight Champion and inaugural B.H. Magazine cover star โ Alexander Volkanovski โ is the latest player to be selected for Legendary Pictures and Paramountโs live-action adaptation of Street Fighter.
The Australian mixed martial arts icon will portray none other than Joe, an underground full-contact karate champion who only appeared in the original 1987 Capcom video game. Canonically American, Joe represented one of eight computer-controlled opponents in the Street Fighter tournament.

โActing. I love acting, so Iโve been doing a bit of it,โ Alexander Volkanovski told B.H. when prompted about his post-UFC plans earlier this year.
โI havenโt had a movie role yet, but there are always talks. A lot of interest. A lot of people throw things our wayโฆ Iโm a big fan of Jason Statham. I feel like I could pull off a Jason Statham vibe.โ
โCould we play in the same movie? I donโt know how. How would that work? How would I play that role if heโs already in it? If they need two Jason Statham-type guys, Iโll put my hand up.โ
Incidentally, the production was initially set to be helmed by a pair of Volkanovskiโs fellow Aussies, Talk To Me and Bring Her Back directors Danny & Michael Philippou. But now, itโll be Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) behind the camera, working from a screenplay penned by Dalan Musson (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Captain America: Brave New World).

Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.
