Ubisoft is pulling out all the stops with Far Cry 6. Based on the trailer revealed during UbiForward โ alongside additional teasers, updates, etc. for the likes of Assassinโs Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs โ weโre in for yet another memorable instalment.
The official synopsis is as follows:
Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Antรณn Castillo (Giancarlo Esposito) is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means with his son, Diego (Anthony Gonzalez), following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.
This time around, fans will assume control of Dani Rojas (playable as male and female) who is tasked with preventing Antรณnโs plans from coming into fruition; and, of course, help โstoke the fires of revolutionโ using guerrilla warfare from the verdant jungles of Yara to the streets of its capital city. Expect the usual powerful array of weapons, assortment of vehicles, and recruitment of allies โ which also includes Fangs for Hire like Chorizo: โthe dangerously distracting wiener dogโ.
The subject matter and themes of Far Cry 6 are rather pertinent, given the current global landscape of civil unrest, protests against government, and so forth. But nothing is as hyper-realistic as the trailerโs rendering, particle effects, and lighting quality. Granted, at the end of the day, itโs obvious the entire cut has been animated. However, itโs definitely worth noting how far modern animation has come.
Far Cry 6 will be available to purchase for current-gen consoles (PS4, Xbox One), next-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X), as well as PC come February 18th of 2021.
