- Apple TV+ has dropped the first trailer for Long Way Home with Ewan McGregor & Charley Boorman.
- This marks the fourth instalment of the Emmy Award-nominated unscripted travel format, which was revived by Apple back in 2020 with Long Way Up.
- Long Way Home release date (Australia): May 9th.
After Long Way Round, Long Way Down, and Long Way Up, Ewan McGregor has now reunited with presenter and longtime friend Charley Boorman (and Apple TV+) for Long Way Home.
โOn a rather tricky, sandy bit of Long Way Up, Charley and I started to daydream about another trip to keep our minds off the scary road at hand. This is that trip,โ explained McGregor, referencing their 13,000-mile/100-day journey from the tip of South America to Los Angeles on prototype Harley-Davidson LiveWire e-motorcycles.

That fantasy, which unfolds over the course of 10 episodes, took them from the North Sea to Scandinavia, all the way up to the Arctic Circle; then down to the Baltics and through continental Europe; before they eventually hopped back over the English Channel two months later.
In total, the adventurous duo covered more than fifteen countries, taking in the spectacular scenery along some of the worldโs greatest driving roads; while also immersing themselves in each placeโs culture, meeting the locals, and even trying their hand at โunique and eclectic activities.โ
โRusty old bikes and 10,000 miles of Scandinavia, and Eastern and Central Europe. A big loop from my house in Scotland to Charleyโs house in England. Long Way Homeโฆ magic.โ
For the uninitiated, this franchise basically revolves around the actor of Star Wars and Trainspotting fame road-tripping with his best mate on a studioโs dime โ quite the lucrative gig, if we do say so ourselves. And an absolute dream if you can somehow swing it.
Aside from their South America-Los Angeles run, throughout the noughties, the duo famously rode from London to New York; and Scotlandโs John oโGroats to South Africaโs Cape Town.

Long Way Home has been executive produced by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman alongside longtime collaborators David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, who also direct. And we expect plenty of the same magic to fill the void being left by the Top Gear/Grand Tour fellas.
In the meantime, revisit the first three series on Apple TV+.
