  • It’s official: Paramount+ has ordered MobLand season 2 with Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan set to return.
  • Across just about every streaming metric, the crime thriller created by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy, The Day of the Jackal) and directed by Guy Ritchie has been a major success.
  • MobLand season 2 release date (Australia): TBC.

After what would’ve surely been a long month for MobLand fans, Paramount+ has greenlit the hit crime drama starring Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan for a second season.

“With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Co-CEO & President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment, in a statement announcing season 2.

“We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the UK.”

Helmed by Top Boy and The Day of the Jackal creator Ronan Bennett – who has written every episode alongside executive producer Jez Butterworth, with Guy Ritchie serving as both EP and director – the series was originally conceived as a spin-off to Liev Schreiber’s Ray Donovan dubbed The Associate.

But since then, it’s obviously been reworked as a standalone affair.

MobLand reunites Ritchie with Tom Hardy for the first time since RocknRolla, the latter taking on the role of Harry Da Souza – your classic fixer for the Harrigan crime family who’s “as dangerous as he is handsome.”

When the Harrigans, led by Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and Maeve (Helen Mirren), find themselves in an all-out war with the Stevensons that could wipe out syndicates and end lives, Harry must delicately navigate the escalating conflict that threatens their empire.

While the full cast for MobLand season 2 has yet to be confirmed at this stage, season 1 also featured the following:

  • Paddy Considine as Kevin Harrigan – Conrad’s son
  • Joanne Froggatt as Jan Da Souza – Harry’s wife
  • Lara Pulver as Bella Harrigan – Kevin’s wife
  • Anson Boon as Eddie Harrigan – Kevin’s rebellious son
  • Mandeep Dhillon as Seraphina – Conrad’s daughter
  • Jasmine Jobson as Zosia – one of Harry’s closest associates
  • Alex Fine as Donnie – adversary to Harry
  • Geoff Bell as Richie – “redoubtable leader” of the up-and-coming south London Stevenson gang
  • Daniel Betts as Brendan – Conrad and Maeve’s oldest son
  • Lisa Dwan as O’Hara – Harrigan family lawyer
  • Emily Barber as Alice – a new friend of Jan’s whom she meets in group therapy

101 Studios CEO David Glasser added: “MobLand was one of those incredible moments where Chris McCarthy came to us with the vision of creating the next great mob series and, after traversing the UK countryside in a quest to land Guy Ritchie, we both came to the realisation that we knew the exact formula. With the extraordinary talent of Guy, Ronan, Jez, and our incredible cast, we brought that vision to life.”

When is the MobLand season 2 release date (Australia or otherwise)?

MobLand season 1 required a little over a year to go from series order to Paramount+ streaming queues. Thankfully, given the sequel won’t require being reworked into a standalone, it’ll be a quicker turnaround.

Assuming everybody’s schedules line up, the MobLand season 2 release date could be slated for early 2026 if not late 2025 (once the aforementioned rework was sorted, season 1 only required four months to shoot, edit, and premiere).

But again, that’s assuming none of the key players are booked out. Particularly the tireless Guy Ritchie, who’s currently in the weeds with Netflix’s The Gentlemen season 2, and what looks like a full dance card ahead.
