Whoever said you can have too much of a good thing clearly never heard that the BBC and Amazon Prime Video were reviving The Night Manager for two brand-spanking-new seasons.

Hailing the return of both Tom Hiddleston as ex-soldier/titular hotel night manager/intelligence asset, Jonathan Pine, and series writer-creator David Farr, the beloved John le Carré adaptation will apparently pick the story up 8 years after the explosive season 1 finale.

This continuation was alluded to last year in a Deadline report, which caveated its claims with the fact that neither Amazon nor the BBC had formally greenlit the project. But now, we know for certain.

While further details regarding plot, casting, and otherwise have yet to be confirmed, we’re holding out hope that we’ll see more of Elizabeth Debicki as Jemima “Jed” Marshall and Olivia Colman as Foreign Office task force manager Angela Burr.

“The first series of The Night Manager was one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I have ever worked on,” Tom Hiddleston expressed via statement.

“The depth, range, and complexity of Jonathan Pine was, and remains, a thrilling prospect. I’m so looking forward to reuniting with Simon & Stephen Cornwell, David Farr, and Stephen Garrett, and to working with Georgi Banks-Davies to tell the next chapter of our story. I can’t wait.”

David Farr added: “John le Carré’s work has long been an inspiration to me and working closely with him on season 1 was an honour and a pleasure.”

“I did not tread lightly into extending The Night Manager beyond the original book, but an idea came to me a couple of years ago which felt truthful to that unique world of dark corners and shady identities.”

“I am thrilled to be working again with Tom Hiddleston, Stephen Garrett and The Ink Factory team, and to be welcoming the brilliant director Georgi Banks-Davies into our ranks.”

The Night Manager season 2 and season 3 will once again be produced by The Ink Factory in association with Character 7, Demarest Films, and 127 Wall, in co-production with Spanish partner Nostromo Pictures.

Production is scheduled to kick off later this year.
