Last year saw the introduction of a powerful new steel sports watch from Bell & Ross. The BR 05 collection launched as an automatic three-hander, in a 40mm steel or gold case with integrated bracelet, that caught the eyes of modernists and retro timekeepers alike.

This year, the BR 05 is back, this time with a chronograph movement – a mechanism perfectly adapted to the pace of urban life. Invented to measure and control short time periods, this function is a loyal ally for any enthusiast who prides themselves on those valuable seconds.

Bell & Ross Cal.301 Movement

To accommodate for the BR-CAL.301 movement, the Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono is housed in a satin-finished and polished 42 mm steel case that continues the brand’s iconic identity, combining round and square.

The integration theme continues with the pushers and crown-guard that form what appears to be a single unified piece, protecting the crown and integrating seamlessly into the case.

Unsurprisingly, the designers have reverted to rounded squares for the two textured subdials, mimicking that of the bezel and providing a modern, streamlined aesthetic.

The BR 05 Chrono – available in Sunray Blue or Jet Black with Super-LumiNova®-filled applique numerals and indices – sees the date window move from the 3 o’clock position to the 4 to accommodate for the addition of two subdials. In true Bell & Ross form, the dial avoids feeling cramped with graphics and contrasts that still ensure optimal legibility.

Both dial variants are offered on the integrated steel bracelet or on a grooved rubber strap which removes a substantial amount of weight from the overall package and wears like a dream on the wrist.

The BR 05 Chrono is priced at AU$8,800 on rubber strap and $9,600 on the steel bracelet.
