If it has anything to do with two wheels, chances are Harley-Davidson know what they’re doing. Only this time around, the proof isn’t in yet another motorcycle – it’s in the Harley-Davidson Serial 1 Electric Bike (or “eBike”, as the kids are calling it these days).

Launched via Harley-Davidson’s eBike development division Serial 1 Cycle, which operates as a separate company altogether, the eBike you see before you has been named after the manufacturer’s olden known motorcycle, “Serial Number One”.

“The formation of Serial 1 allows Harley-Davidson to play a key role in this mobility revolution,” says Brand Director Aaron Frank via statement.

“While [also] allowing Serial 1 to focus exclusively on the eBicycle customer and deliver an unmatched riding experience rooted in freedom and adventure.

Featuring a Brookes England Slender honey leather saddle and grips, white rubber tyres, as well as a gorgeous Hydroformed aluminium frame in black, here are some of the key specs:

  • Brose S Mag motor (mid-drive mounting); Max. speed: 20MPH + Torque: 90Nm
  • Single-speed transmission (freewheel)
  • Gates Carbon Drive belt
  • Hydraulic two-piston disc brakes (front + rear)
  • 529 Wh frame-integrated battery (removable); 35 to 105 mile range (depending on mode + terrain)
  • Frame-integrated LED headlight + taillights

And by all accounts, it’s certainly an eBike “worthy of the Harley-Davidson name”, beyond the sleek appearance alone. But the world will just have to wait and see how it really performs on the road.

The Harley-Davidson Serial 1 Electric Bike is now available for purchase. As expected, despite how sexy they look, these bad boys are what we deem to be overpriced: US$5,999 / US$8,260. Limited to just 650 units, half will be sold over in the US while the other half will be sold in Europe. First deliveries are expected to arrive by the end of 2021.
