If thereโ€™s anyone with a credible hangover cure, itโ€™s the late great Anthony Bourdain.

Even before he landed the gig of a lifetime with CNN โ€” getting paid to eat and drink his way around the world for Parts Unknown โ€” the acid-tongued celebrity chef had a reputation for being able to throw โ€™em back (and for enjoying a frothy pretty much any time in the day).

โ€œThereโ€™s something wonderful about drinking in the afternoon. A not-too-cold pint, absolutely alone at the barโ€ฆ even in this fake-ass Irish pub,โ€ Bourdain once waxed poetic about the virtues of daytime drinking in Medium Raw: Bloody Valentine To The World Of Food & The People Who Cook.

Suffice it to say, when it comes to tying one on and avoiding the dreaded fate of feelinโ€™ a bit Pete Murray (translation: to have seen better days), the manโ€™s word holds considerable weight.

Back in 2016, when the Chicago Cubs broke the franchiseโ€™s historic 108-year World Series drought, an enterprising paparazzo representing TMZ cornered the seasoned booze hound. The objective? To solicit some recovery advice on behalf of the championship-winning baseball players after their champagne-fuelled victory lap finally ended.

Hereโ€™s what he prescribed post-celebration:

โ€œAspirin, cold Coca-Cola, smoke a joint, eat some spicy Szechuan food โ€” works every time.โ€

Itโ€™s certainly more simplistic than some of the other supposedly โ€œeasyโ€ hangover cures weโ€™ve come across. Although procuring certain elements of Bourdainโ€™s breakdown might prove difficult due to both legal and availability issues (side note: officially speaking, BH does not condone any criminal behaviour).

At its core, the Anthony Bourdain hangover cure perfectly encapsulates his rock-and-roll philosophy to life, bested only by his famed โ€œEnjoy The Rideโ€ quoteโ€ฆ

โ€œEat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 oโ€™clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere youโ€™ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a Negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride.โ€

Remember: weโ€™re here for a good time, not a long time.
