David Lynch’s former private Hollywood Hills compound – a home that encapsulated the late filmmaker’s creative universe – has hit the market with a US$15 million (AU$22.75 million) price tag. Spread across five connected land parcels and anchored by the 1963 Beverly Johnson House designed by Lloyd Wright (son of Frank Lloyd Wright), this estate totals 2.3 acres of prime hillside real estate.
Recognised by Historic Places LA as an “excellent example of Mid-Century Modern/Organic residential architecture,” the Beverly Johnson House flaunts bold geometry, walls of glass, and an indoor–outdoor flow that makes it perfect for entertaining. It was in 1991 that Lynch extended the site’s rare Wright lineage by commissioning Eric Lloyd Wright to design both a pool and pool house, deepening the through-line of legendary multi-generational design.

Across the years, Lynch stitched the neighbouring properties into a cohesive creative campus, with 7029 Senalda serving as the address for his production company, while his Asymmetrical Productions was located at the neighbouring property of 7035 Senalda. The latter address earned on-screen fame as the Madison residence in Lost Highway (1997), and later became Lynch’s own studio, complete with a library, screening room, as well as a private editing suite.
Lynch wasn’t done there, though, with additional structures later added: including a two-storey guest house and a one-bedroom residence finished in the smooth grey plaster the director favoured. In total, the compound comprises seven structures, 10 bedrooms, and 11 bathrooms across roughly 1,000 square metres.
In the spirit of preserving the mid-century spirit, the interiors lean into material honesty with plenty of metalwork, natural woods, and generous skylights, while cement chevrons and sculptural lines add details that feel unmistakably… Lynchian.
A once-in-a-lifetime proposition for architecture devotees and cinephiles alike, its future owner is promised a secluded, multi-residence estate with Wright pedigree, Hollywood history, plus a direct connection to one of America’s most distinctive creative minds.
