The pointy end of Londonโs property market continues to heat up following the $445 million listing of the cityโs most expensive property, with the latest manor to come up for sale enjoying some close links to the world of James Bond. Denham Place, just half an hour from central London, has come up for sale with an asking price of ยฃ75 million (AU$142 million) and once served as the location for Mโs office in two Roger Mooreโs James Bond films from the 1970s.
As youโd expect from a Grade I property, Denham Place boasts a remarkable list of previous owners, including American Banker JP Morgan, the family of French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, film producer Harry Saltzman and many more. The Buckinghamshire manor has traded hands just seven times since it was originally constructed in 1688. It is currently owned by businessman Mike Jatania, who purchased the property in 2000 for close to ยฃ20 million (AU$30.4 million).
Harry Saltzman was the co-producer for the first nine films in the James Bond series and claimed the studio used the library of Denham Place to shoot the scenes in Mโs office for Live and Let Die and The Man with the Golden Gun. While these claims couldnโt be verified independently of Saltzman, it remains an interesting piece of trivia for the future custodian of the manor.

Denham Place contains no less than a dozen bedrooms and bathrooms, and 14 reception rooms while being situated on a sweeping 43-acre estate. In addition, the estate also enjoys a coach house, several cottages and ancillary buildings, and substantial garaging for vehicles for the next owner to park a fleet of cars. The sale of Denham Place also includes all of the homeโs fully furnished contents, which includes a number of rare antiques.
โSince Anglo-Saxon times, up to the current vendors, there have only been seven owners of Denham Place; with each family undertaking improvements and bestowing an enhanced legacy for the new owners,โ said James Crawford, of Knight Frank in a statement.
โAlongside offering private, tranquil parkland, it is excellently connected just thirty minutes from Central London and Mayfair, whilst being just six miles from airport base RAF Northolt for using private jets.โ
โShort of acquiring one of the Crown Estate Royal Palaces there is nothing of this grandeur or provenance so close to Central London.โ
