- The Crown Tower penthouse perched amongst Sydneyโs clouds has, at long last, been sold for approximately $80 million.
- A local buyer is believed to have secured the โBarangaroo prizeโ through a structured deal, according to industry sources (via AFR).
- The penthouse in question first hit the market in 2021 with a listed price of $100 million.
Four years, two hefty discounts, however many selling agents, and a Blackstone acquisition of the whole resorts enchilada later, the vaunted Crown Tower penthouse at Sydneyโs Barangaroo has reportedly been offloaded for just under $80 million.
Distributed across two storeys (L81 & L82) with breathtaking 360-degree views of the harbour, this six-bedroom abode was initially listed with a $100 million price tag back in mid-2021 โ around the same time James Packer himself paid a little over $72 million for the similarly luxurious two-storey apartment below the penthouse; and shortly after all three levels of Lendleaseโs One Sydney Harbour found an owner in a record-breaking $140 million deal.
But when this failed to reel in any whales, the magic number was reduced to $90 million, and then again last year to $80 millionโฆ So what exactly has $80 million bought the yet-to-be-identified mystery player, apparently hailing from Sydneyโs east instead of the global east (i.e. China), who had the requisite cash and cajones to pony up?
Bragging rights aside, 849 square metres of solitude in the skyline, flanked by six-metre floor-to-ceiling windows, with interiors accomplished by New York design firm Meyer Davis Studio. Other notable features range from a steam room, harbour-view plunge pool, expansive wine wall, and cinema, to a triumvirate of balconies, private gym, and private internal lift (all of which you can see for yourself via our videos above/below).
The new resident will also enjoy priority booking for the internationally-renowned Nobu, aโMare, Woodcut, the reborn Golden Century, as well as the Michelin-calibre dining at Oncore by Clare Smyth, along with room service.
This sale officially makes the Crown Towers penthouse Sydneyโs second-most expensive apartment, after Lendleaseโs $140 million One Sydney Harbour that was snapped up back in 2019.
