Beyond the prancing horse, scarlet red liveries, and screaming Italian-built engines, the name Ferrari has always been associated with the unbridled, unapologetic pursuit of speed.
Though since 2025, the Italian marque has turned its attenzione to a different type of racetrack; one that’s not defined by the Testarossa or the F40, or the stop-start results of its stalling Formula 1 team, but for the guys and girls who are more likely to spend their weekends doing base-building long runs rather than setting their alarms for Quali.
I’m talking, of course, about the Mezza Maratona d’Italia – Enzo Ferrari Memorial, with applications now open once more for 2027.

The 2027 edition keeps the full spread of running distances, now split across the weekend with the 5km Family & Fans Run kicking things off on Saturday, looping entirely within Maranello, starting and finishing in front of the Ferrari Museum and cutting through the factory grounds and Fiorano Circuit. The 10km follows the same Maranello loop on Sunday.
But we’re here for the headline event, the heel-snapping 21.0975km half marathon running on Sunday. And this is where the course really opens up.
From Maranello through Fiorano Modenese and Formigine (home to a historic medieval castle), the course winds through the ancestral home of one of the world’s most iconic car brands, before finishing in Modena, where every Ferrari road car is signed off before making its way into the world.
Runners pass the Ghirlandina Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, en route to the finish arch in Piazza Roma, in front of the historic Ducal Palace. For those chasing a bigger challenge again, there's now a Double Race option: run the 5km on Saturday and back it up with the half marathon on Sunday.
The 2026 edition drew 15,000 runners across all distances, including 88 nations and a half marathon field that sold out at 7,500 entries. Kenya's Dennis Kipruto took out the men's race in 1:00:44, with Regina Wambui Ndungu winning the women's in 1:09:03 – both a step up on the pace set at the inaugural 2025 event, when Emmanuel Wafula and Gladys Cherop won in 59:20 and 1:08:23 respectively.

Pricing for the 2027 edition is now confirmed, and it remains remarkably reasonable by Australian race standards.
The 5km Family & Fans Run costs €11 (~$18), while the non-competitive 10km comes in at €17 (~$28). The headline 21km Half Marathon is €35 (~$58) for both competitive and international non-competitive runners, with the €2 service fee included in each price.
For context, the 2026 Melbourne Half Marathon runs to $190 for Aussie entrants and $250 for internationals, making Maranello an unusually affordable proposition even before you factor in the considerably more appealing prospect of running through Ferrari country.
