We're a little late to the party with this article, but we don't think you'll mind given the news that actor Michael Fassbender is training with Porsche to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The mission, which has been documented for a weekly YouTube series, began airing on Porsche's channel on October 11th.
Dubbed 'Road to Le Mans', the multi-part series follows the German-Irish actor as he goes through the turbulent process of training for one of the world's most coveted motorsport races in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. The factory-built, customer-ready racking package is powered by a 4.0-litre flat-six.
While relatively new to motorsport, Fassbender isn't a complete racing novice. He currently drives in the Porsche Super Sports Cup in Germany where he's behind the wheel of the #93 911 GT3 Cup car for the Manthey Racing Team. The season prior, Fassbender showed some serious natural debut talent obtaining 5 podiums and 1 win in just 11 races with the Ferrari Challenge series.
"I've just always felt drawn to going fast into a corner—and fast out—and just naturally felt connected to it, and now I want to go to the ultimate place," Fassbender says in the YouTube series trailer.
"I think it's the history of the place. I think it's the drivers that crashed there, or competed there, or won there. To be a part of that would be, you know, unbelievable," he says.
This is the first season of Fassbender's goal to reach Le Mans, as explained in the trailer, implying that more could be in the pipeline.
