  • Arc’teryx has announced the Alpha SL 30 backpack as the lightest technical alpine pack the brand has ever created.
  • Crafted from ALUULA Graflyte material, it’s 50% lighter than its predecessor and weighs just 438g.
  • The Arc’teryx Alpha SL 30 is currently available from the brand’s US online store, with an RRP of US$400 (AU$622). Australian availability and pricing are TBC.

If you’ve been on the hunt for a super lightweight backpack that can run the gamut of both work bag and climbing companion, Arc’teryx has just taken its iconic Alpha FL Backpack to the next level. Introducing the Alpha SL 30: a sleek, ultralight 30-litre pack that redefines the possibilities of function-focused backpacks with the help of revolutionary materials from ALUULA Composites.

Weighing in at just 438g, the Alpha SL is a staggering 50% lighter than its predecessor, thanks to being manufactured from ALUULA Graflyte. This high-performance fabric, a triple-layered polymer film, offers unrivalled tear strength, abrasion resistance, as well as water resistance. And when the inevitable happens? You can even repair it with self-adhering patches available at Arc’teryx’s ReBIRD service centres.

This technical pack isn’t just about weight-saving innovation – it’s built for functionality. The rigid, thermoformed back panel ensures balance, while the padded shoulder straps provide comfort, making it perfect for daily use or travel.

With a streamlined design, the pack features a main compartment with top-entry and a waterproof external pocket for essentials like keys. Plus, it boasts six integrated lash points for customisable external carry, making it versatile enough for everything from a jacket to a water bottle or outdoor speaker.

For climbers, the Alpha SL has dedicated features like ice tool attachments and a mini lid for extra protection. But honestly… who doesn’t want a pack that’s both incredibly durable and absurdly light? At US$400 (AU$622), it’s an investment for anyone who appreciates sleek design, unmatched performance, and the ability to haul anything, without feeling the weight.
