It was back in August that McLaren first announced its collaboration with the luxury sneaker brand Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL), but already the partnership is at it again with new track-ready colourways. You’ll never spot the McLaren name on a product that isn’t overengineered and aesthetically excellent, which is exactly what the Hyspeed sneaker partnership with APL is all about.

Now offered in the additional options of Magenta-Pristine-Ombre for a little flair, some warmth from the Pristine-Tan-Midnight and the final conventional Black-White contrast, the Hyspeed offers a distinctly aerodynamic silhouette with plenty of technical features beneath the bonnet. The non-stretch TechLoom upper is hardwearing, especially in high friction areas, while the 3-piece cushion heel padding aims to be supremely comfortable while drawing inspiration from McLaren’s Senna seats.

It doesn’t stop there, however, with the two-piece midsole section boasting a nitrogen-infused compound for springy responsiveness, while the connecting V-weave carbon fibre plate that connects the midsole units promotes efficient energy return while running. Both the tongue and heel unit are constructed from microfibre to deliver a snug and secure fit while you’re working out.

“Following the hugely positive reception of the first drop of APL McLaren HySpeed sneakers, we have collaborated with APL to introduce exciting new colourways to the collection inspired by the vibrancy, dynamics and energy of our supercars,” said George Biggs, McLaren’s chief sales and marketing officer.

“Both McLaren and APL are leaders in their fields and are committed to pushing the boundaries of design and technology for enhanced performance, making this collaboration a perfect fit.”

As you might expect from McLaren, they aren’t the cheapest sneakers you’ve ever laid eyes on, arriving with a hefty RRP of $751 and made available through APL’s online store. They aren’t exactly affordable, but it’s definitely hard to argue that they don’t look like an absolute treat.
