Known across sneaker-dom for his prolific collaborations alongside everybody from Kith to Crocs, American designer Salehe Bembury is back at it again with his latest sneaker – for none other than French alpine clothing powerhouse, Moncler.

Despite a dearth of hard information about the upcoming release, Bembury teased the project on his personal Instagram account yesterday, revealing what appears to be a low-top design, emblazoned with conspicuous Moncler co-branding.

The colour scheme of the uppers – once again realised in Bembury’s signature swirling, arboreal aesthetic – is largely in neutral tones of pink, punctuated by details around the side wall and eyelets that are in a contrasting, significantly richer hue of burgundy. Navy piping is used as an accent throughout; and the shoe also incorporates a gray roped lacing system.

Presently, little is known about the design’s sole unit, though sneakerheads can probably anticipate that it will be in Bembury’s large, visually gnarled style.

Moncler’s collaboration with Salehe Bembury follows in the wake of a number of highly public co-branded launches. Although the former is best known for its down jacketing and premium skiwear, it has previously collaborated with a number of popular footwear brands (e.g. Asics and Converse) in order to sharpen its appeal.

According to Michael Le, reporting for Sneaker News, this upcoming partnership has footwear aficionados particularly excited, as it marks the first time that Moncler “is letting [its] own designs do the talking”. Details about when (and how) the collab is dropping are to be announced.
