  • As part of its 250th anniversary celebrations, Breguet has unveiled two new Type XX Chronograph 2075 references.
  • The two new chronographs pay tribute to aviator duo Dieudonnรฉ Costes and Maurice Bellonte, the first people to fly from Paris to New York in 1930.
  • The black dial Breguet Type XX Chronograph 2075 is not limited and has an RRP of $66,500; the silver dial version is limited to 250 pieces and is priced at $69,200.

As part of its ongoing 250th anniversary celebrations, Breguet has unveiled the Type XX Chronograph reference 2075 in New York, following the launch of the Classique Souscription 2025 in Paris and the Tradition 7035 in Shanghai.

Drawing inspiration from a civilian Type XX first produced in 1955, the 2075 arrives in two distinct versions: each crafted in proprietary Breguet gold (which debuted with the Tradition 7035).

The first reference features an anodised aluminium dial in deep black, while the second reference (limited to just 250 pieces) boasts a solid, vertically brushed silver dial. Both echo the proportions of their predecessor (38.3 mm in diameter and 13.2 mm thick); paying tribute to aviation pioneers Abraham-Louis Breguet and aviators Dieudonnรฉ Costes and Maurice Bellonte, who were the first to fly nonstop from Paris to New York in 1930.

Inside each case beats a manually wound variant of the high-frequency calibre 728, gilded in Breguet gold. The black-dialled Type XX 2075 houses calibre 7279, boasting a 15-minute counter at three oโ€™clock; the silver model contains calibre 7278 with a 30-minute counter at the same position. Both feature a small seconds display at nine oโ€™clock and a flyback function, enabling instant reset and restart via a single pusher.

A transparent case back reveals a hand-engraved depiction of the Breguet 19 aircraft in full flight, complete with the Parisโ€“New York route over frosted continents and a smooth Atlantic. In nod to Louis Breguetโ€™s pioneering use of Duralumin, the black dial bears a discreet โ€œAlโ€ between seven and eight oโ€™clock, while the silver dial is marked โ€œAg925โ€ to indicate its sterling-silver construction.

โ€œThe Type XX line occupies a special place in Breguetโ€™s collections. Born from a rich history linked to aviation, it bears witness to the Houseโ€™s technical expertise in the field of chronographs,โ€ Gregory Kissling, CEO of Breguet, said in a statement.

โ€œFor the Type XX models, particular attention has been paid to historical design codes in order to harmoniously complement the Houseโ€™s collections, and equally to appeal to a public with a passion for watchmaking and history.โ€

The slim bi-directional bezel is crafted from the same Breguet gold as the case and features numerals that match the respective dial colours of the two references. Models are supplied on an interchangeable leather strap, with gradient black for the black dial and gradient blue for the silver, completing a seamless blend of heritage design and modern innovation.
