Omegaโs original Railmaster of 1957 was as durable and rugged as its blue-collar wearers. Fast forward more than 60 years and this unique denim design we see here pays tribute to a half a century of working-class lifestyle.
Now a contemporary staple of modern fashion, the properties of denim as a very durable cloth once made it a popular choice for labourers of the American West, particularly miners, factory workers and naturally, those working on railroads.
The 2018 release we have here features a vertically-brushed โblue jeansโ dial to complement this heritage, supported by light-grey Super-LumiNova hands and indexes. โBeige lollipopโ โ as coined by Omega themselves โ is the colourway for the central seconds hand and transferred Railmaster indication to replicate the stitching used in denim clothing. The genuine blue denim NATO strap is actually contrasted with brown leather on the underside. Overall, the idea of a denim Omega really caught us off guard here in the Boss Hunting office, but weโve actually come to like it quite a bit.
Within the case is one of the industryโs most hardened anti-magnetic timekeepers, the Master Chronometre Calibre 8806. Boasting a resistance of 15 more times than the original Railmaster model, the movement can withstand the magnetism of 15,000 gauss.
