  • Panerai has annonced it’s latest release as the Radiomir Viaggio NelTempo Experience Set, featuring two special watches and a money-can’t-buy diving trip.
  • The diving experience will take buyers to the Italian Navy’s special operations unit COMSUBIN base, as well as a yachting journey along the Ligurian coastline.
  • The two watches are the bronze-cased PAM01729 and the Platinumtech PAM01730, which, combined with the experience, are priced at $234,000 and limited to 30 sets.

Panerai has offered its very best clients “experience” packages for a few years now, but for the first time, the Italian-founded watchmaker is offering a set of watches alongside what’s guaranteed to be an unforgettable, truly once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Before we get to the watches, the trip is scheduled to take place this September (15 to 18), beginning in Panerai’s home city of Florence, before following the footsteps of the famed Italian military frogmen who, in part, helped pioneer the spirit of the brand. Specifically, buyers of the experience will explore the mouth of the Serchio River, where the frogmen performed their training and dive exercises.

If that wasn’t enough, Panerai then takes its guests to the COMSUBIN (Divers and Raiders Group Command “Teseo Tesei”) base in Porto Venere, before finally ending the experience with a yachting tour along the Ligurian coastline. Sign us up.

As far as the watches, we’ve got two references, one cast in bronze and the other in Panerai’s proprietary Platinumtech, but both infused with Radiomir DNA, measuring an unapologetic 47mm in diameter.

Where they differ begins in the case finishing, with the bronze reference brushed and the Platinumtech polished, and their dials also offer different takes on Panerai classics, with a California-style dial for the bronze and a quintessential sandwich-style dial for the Platinumtech.

They’ve also got different movements, with the PAM01729 powered by the P.3000 calibre and the PAM01730 by a suitably well-finished P.3001/10 calibre, but both with 72 hours of power reserve. As you’d hope for such an incredible diving adventure, both watches are water resistant to 100m.

If the middle of your September is looking relatively open and you’d love a diving trip to Italy that you could happily tell your grandkids about, head to your local Panerai boutique now. A total of 30 sets (and experiences) are on offer, with a local RRP of $234,000.
