  • Seikoโ€™s latest local special edition is the Prospex Australasian Limited Edition SRPM04 diver.
  • Nicknamed the โ€œKameโ€ (meaning โ€œturtleโ€ in Japanese), it draws inspiration from the tropical paradise of Fitzroy Island and an injured turtle adopted by Seiko Australia.
  • With only 1,000 examples up for grabs, the Seiko Prospex Australasian Limited Edition SRPM04 is now available with an RRP of $995 (a portion of each sale will be donated to marine conservation efforts).

This week in Brisbane, we were lucky enough to attend the official unveiling of Seikoโ€˜s new special edition watch: the Prospex Australasian Limited Edition SRPM04 diver.

Featuring a gold-ringed bezel, mysteriously shifting turquoise dial, and the classic Seiko โ€œTurtleโ€ case shape we all know and love, itโ€™s an exciting addition to the beloved family, following up from the Seiko SRPJ53K and SPB347J released back in 2022.

As one of Australiaโ€™s most secluded and spectacularly beautiful locations, Fitzroy Island (near the Great Barrier Reef) serves as key inspiration for the Seiko SRPM04.

Its golden beaches are referenced in the ring framing the bezel, while the shallow emerald waters of the region are reflected in the gradient green-blue dial that almost looks to shift colour under the light.

The rest of the specs will be familiar to Seiko fanboys โ€“ a stainless steel case that measures 45mm in diameter and 13.4mm in thickness, a crown tucked away at four oโ€™clock, as well as a rotating 60-minute dive bezel.

The case guarantees the watch 200 metres of water resistance, protecting the automatic 4R36 movement inside that offers up to 41 hours of power reserve; while the watch is paired with both a stainless steel bracelet and a comfy blue rubber strap.

Seikoโ€™s celebration of the Great Barrier Reef isnโ€™t random โ€“ itโ€™s part of an ongoing commitment to the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre (CTRC), and even more broadly, the watchmakerโ€™s longstanding Save The Ocean initiative.

The CTRC is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured turtles in the area. One of which, affectionately named Kame (the Japanese word for โ€œturtleโ€), was recently adopted by Seiko, and effectively became secondary inspiration for the SRPM04. Youโ€™ll be able to follow Kameโ€™s recovery journey across Seiko Australiaโ€™s social media platforms.

The Seiko Prospex Australasian Limited Edition SRPM04 is now available to purchase exclusively via Seikoโ€™s Sydney and Melbourne boutiques, as well as the Wallace Bishop Brisbane City store (elsewhere starting from November 17th).

Limited to just 1,000 pieces with an RRP of $995, a portion of every sale will be donated directly to the CTRC to support their vital work protecting Australiaโ€™s marine life and ecosystem.
