The Australian Business Traveller’s David Flynn has copped a first look at the slick new Qantas Club Lounge at Melbourne’s domestic airport which is scheduled to open today, May 30th.

The rather drab and dated furniture has been swapped out for a much needed contemporary twist and is now available for use by Qantas Gold frequent flyers and Qantas Club members.

A lighter colour palette seems to be the theme throughout, with tan leather and soft oak the backbone of the facelift. This unveiling marks the first of three stages to the revamp, which is next to include the opening of the first half of the Business lounge, followed by the overall completion of the space in November.

From now until then, facilities such as showers and toilets will be running at half capacity, and guests will be restricted in peak hours (5am to 9am & 3pm to 7pm).

Upon completion, however, the overall capacity of the Qantas domestic lounge space will be increased by 40%, the details of which you can preview in the gallery below.
