- Orient Express will soon be taking guests through Italy on its sumptuous 12-carriage La Dolce Vita train to play golf at Italyโs most prestigious courses.
- The โNorthern Greensโ and โItalian Swingโ packages also include a dedicated concierge service and Michelin-calibre dining from three-star chef Heinz Beck.
- But suffice it to say, youโll need deep pockets to fulfil this particular slow travel dreamโฆ
Exploring Italy aboard an Orient Express destined for the countryโs most iconic golf courses is nothing short of a match made in slow travel heaven.
The company behind the famously luxurious trains have recently unveiled two such dream itineraries created in partnership with the Italian Golf Federation (FIG). The only questions youโll have to ask yourself now are โnorth or south?โ and โhow much?โ

Departing from Rome this November, the โItalian Swingโ package invites you to play at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club (host of the 2023 Ryder Cup), San Domenico Golf Club, The Club at Castiglion del Bosco, and Antognolla Golf Club (Italyโs only PGA-licensed facility) in the central/southern end of the boot. Think Apulia, Siena, and Perugia.
From the moment of booking, a dedicated concierge will attend to every conceivable trip detail โ managing golf bags, arranging premium equipment rental, as well as selecting gear tailored to your needs, and even the โcomposition of each flightโ as to ensure โharmony among players and a seamless experience on the course.โ
Guests will also be accompanied by an โinternationally renowned professional golferโ to enrich time on the course with expert guidance and bespoke masterclasses.
The โNorthern Greensโ package is similarly excellent. The only key differences? As suggested by its name, this option takes you northbound along Bresica, Turin, and Perugia โ specifically to Marco Simone Golf & Country Club as the uniform starting point, Franciacorta Golf Club, Royal Park I Roveri, and Antognolla Golf Club โ and doesnโt occur until May 2026.
Each four-day journey will showcase the very finest Italian hospitality.
