  • Chris Hemsworth is synonymous with action-packed roles, most famously as Thor in Marvel’s Avengers.
  • Hemsworth revealed recently about a potential MMA match with UFC champion Alex Volkanovski.
  • Thankfully for fans, he was only joking.

Think of the biggest blokes on the biggest screen and you’ll struggle to make a list without Hollywood heavyweight, Chris Hemsworth.

Towering both in stature and star power, the Australian actor has become synonymous with larger-than-life action roles, most notably as the thunder-wielding Norse god in Marvel’s Avengers franchise.

Of course, since hanging up the red cape in recent years – but not entirely – Hemsworth has continued to flex his position across a range of original titles on streaming and the silver screen, cementing his reputation as one of the industry’s go-to action heroes.

So it’s no surprise to see his name pop up in conversations around a potential MMA matchup during a round of Crime 101 promotion with Complex.

The 42-year-old frequently posts gym sessions and sparring contests to his socials, usually alongside specialised training for current and upcoming roles. And, to be completely honest, he’s always looked like he’s got the hands to step into the ring.

Well, now, after 24 years of professional acting, it seems like Hemsworth might be eyeing up a casual career move, swapping the choreographed fights in the MCU for a match-up with current UFC featherweight champion (and good mate) Alex Volkanovski.

“I’d love to just one day go, ‘Right, what have I gotten here?’ I’d probably end up flat on my back, starry-eyed.”

“No, I wouldn’t put myself in the ring,” Hemsworth conceded. “But a part of me wants to though actually having said that. I mean, I’ve trained a lot and sparred a lot over the years, but within the realm of not killing each other.

Who would he face? “One of the ones who retired a long time ago,” Hemsworth joked. “I can just run away from them until they get tired.”

For now, though, fans can rest easy. Hemsworth isn’t hanging up his acting gloves anytime soon. But with a few potential match-ups touted in the future, it wouldn’t be the strangest career move for one of the country’s most prolific exports.
