Thought the Beyonce hype was over? Think again. One of the most in-demand performers in music history โ letโs be real here โ just announced a massive world tour to support her latest album, the dance-inflected Renaissance. And the Instagram post making such an announcement has received 6.3 million likes in just a few headlines, spurring countless headlines you are no doubt seeing scrawled across your Facebook news feed right now. Although local fans are fuming โ sheโs not coming to Australia at all.
Beyonceโs Renaissance world tour will kick off in Europe this year with an extensive list of shows across the continent. The 41-year-old singer will then head back to North America in July. As for Australia? Well, crickets.
Despite feverish demand, Aussies hoping to catch one of Beyonceโs shows will have to be travelling internationally this year. That is, unless she drops a second announcement with Australisia on the cards.
The last time Beyonce was down under was in 2013 for her incredibly successful Mrs. Carter Show tour. Since then Aussie fans have seen no love from the โLove On Topโ hitmaker; she even neglected Australia during her last extended run, which was a co-headline tour with husband JAY-Z for the On the Run tour.
Whether youโre a fan or not, itโs hard to deny Beyonceโs powerful presence in modern pop culture. Take it from someone who was at her recent private concert in Dubai, the visuals alone are worth the price of admission.
Notably, Beyonce didnโt perform any songs from Renaissance during her Dubai concert, with many speculating it was due to the UAEโs strict laws regarding homosexuality and the album celebrating queer culture. While that was a shame โ the album is her best in years โ itโs looking like sheโll almost certainly be making up for that on the forthcoming tour.
