Almost five years after his untimely passing, Mac Miller will be gracing us with new music thanks to Madlib.

During his recent appearance on Sway In The Morning to promote a joint album with Talib Kweli, Liberation 2, the producer-DJ revealed the long-awaited collaborative EP nicknamed “Maclib” – which is set to be dropped with the estate of Mac Miller’s full blessing – is approaching the final stages of completion.

“Right now, I’m finishing up the Mac Miller album, Planet Asia album, Erykah Badu album, different stuff,” said Madlib (via Variety).

“[Erykah and I] just started on an album… We have a lot of unreleased stuff.”

Mac Miller has also contributed to Liberation 2 alongside other featured names such as  Q-Tip, Westside Gunn, Roy Ayers, Jamie Branch, and plenty more.

The “Maclib” project’s very existence was first alluded to back in 2019 by Chicago producer Thelonious Martin during his interview with DJBooth, and anticipation has only been steadily building ever since.

In the year following Mac Miller’s death, the beloved artist’s music has been posthumously released on a number of occasions.

Most notably the critically-acclaimed album Circles (2020), in addition to featuring on a handful of singles ranging from ‘That’s Life’ by 88-Keys, ‘I Believed It’ by Dvsn and Ty Dolla Sign, to Robert Glasper’s ‘Therapy Pt. 2.’
